Summaryedit
Description |
English: Pictured are soldiers from The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery riding in the surf at Holkham beach Norfolk.
The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery leaves the noise and confines of Central London, for equestrian and military training on the north Norfolk coast, and the rural idyll of Bodney Camp. Almost 100 horses from The King's Troop will ‘holidayed’ Norfolk. The visit to Norfolk is a vital military and equestrian training exercise which is impossible to deliver in the confines of a London-based barracks. Beach work in particular may look like fun; but it is an essential part of the never-ending work to build trust and confidence between horse and rider. Not all horses have the confidence to go into the churning surf, especially when the ground beneath their hooves shifts and sinks. But by trusting their rider and overcoming their fears, the bond between the two is made stronger; and this is vital for dealing with the unpredictable, during high-profile ceremonial duties back in London.
