Description
English: The Hon. Jordan Lawrence Mott, Jr.'s centerboard schooner Magic (formerly Madgie). She was originally a sloop modelled by her first owner Richard Fanning Loper and built in 1857 at the T. Byerly & Son shipyard, PA. Her later owner Franklin Osgood had her entirely rebuilt in 1869 at the David Carll shipyard, NY, prior to her successful defence of the 1870 Queen's Cup. She is pictured here in the 1888 Ogden Goelet cup in Newport, RI.
