The proposed development of the Tyne and Wear Metro forms a Ring-Radial network. This allows creating different groups of routes. The Group of Short non-interchanging routes between End stations (AIRPORT / PONTELAND, BLYTH, SOUTH SHIELDS, DURHAM, CHOPWELL, PRUDHOE) consists of fifteen units: BLYTH~DURHAM (the Route is shown in Light Green - 23 stations ~ 2 options); BLYTH~CHOPWELL (the Route is shown in Violet - 24 stations); BLYTH~PRUDHOE (the Route is shown in Dark Blue - 25 stations); BLYTH~AIRPORT / PONTELAND (the Route is shown in Grey - 20 stations); BLYTH~SOUTH SHIELDS (the Route is shown in Orange - 30 stations); DURHAM~SOUTH SHIELDS (the Route is shown in Dark Brown - 31 stations); DURHAM~CHOPWELL (the Route is shown in Brown - 28 stations ~ 2 options); DURHAM~PRUDHOE (the Route is shown in Red - 29 stations ~ 2 options); DURHAM~AIRPORT / PONTELAND (the Route is shown in Yellow - 25 stations ~ 2 options); PRUDHOE~AIRPORT / PONTELAND (the Route is shown in Dark Violet - 39 stations); PRUDHOE~SOUTH SHIELDS (the Route is shown in Pink - 46 stations); PRUDHOE~CHOPWELL (the Route is shown in Dark Green - 60 stations ~ 2 option – Unlike other routes are Crossing stations and each route has the section with a double passing through 11 stations: “there” and “back”); SOUTH SHIELDS~AIRPORT / PONTELAND (the Route is shown in Light Blue - 28 stations); SOUTH SHIELDS~CHOPWELL (the Route is shown in Celadon - 45 stations); AIRPORT / PONTELAND~CHOPWELL (the Route is shown in Light Violet - 34 stations). This allows to select the optimal combination of different routes depending on the amount of passenger traffic.
