The using of old of railways potential for the development of the Radial-Ring network of the Tyne and Wear Metro has three stages. The Main option - separate large parts of the Network. The Alternative option - a complex solution: 1st - The Main Difficult Ring (South Hylton – Pelton – Consett – Lintz Green – Scorswood, Saint James – Lemington – Woolsington – Killingworth – the Allotment – Port – East Boldon); 2nd - External branches; 3rd - Inner branches and closing of loops. Total for the First (Alternative) stage: 28 new stations on non-operated and disused railway sections with 1 new station on the Existing Metro line; 11 existing stations for connects; new surface connecting sections and the new tunnel section; connecting sections on the proposed new East Tyne Bridge.
