After the implementation of three stages of Washington's section development it is advisable to continue the expansion of the Tyne and Wear metro network (in terms of the use of old railway lines). Promising areas of expansion are following lines: 1) The Metro line «VIGO - PELTON - BEAMISH - STANLEY – ANNFIELD PLAIN - CONSETT» (19,75 km / 12,25 mi). 2) The Metro line «COLLIERY ROW - LEAMSIDE – FRANKLAND SIDING» (6,49 km / 4,02 mi). 3) The Metro line «COLLIERY ROW – RAINTON BRIDGE – HETTON-LE-HOLE – MURTON – SEATON – RYHOPE – GRANGETOWN - SUNDERLAND» (19,92 km / 12,35 mi). 4). Three new connected tracks: “FELLGATE - FOLLINGSBY” (1,17 km / 0,73 mi), “LEAMSIDE – RAINTON BRIDGE” (0,75 km / 0,47 mi), “PARK LANE - GRANGETOWN” (0,60 km / 0,37 mi). Formed several linear, loop and three very important ring routes: 1st - “Sunderland – Grangetown – Ryhope – Seaton – Murton – Hetton-le-Hole – Rainton Bridge – Colliery Row – Fence Houses – Penshaw – Washington – Usworth – Follingsby – Fellgate – Brockley Whins – East Boldon – Seaburn – Stadium of Light – Saint Peter’s – Sunderland”; 2nd - “Park Lane – Grangetown – Ryhope – Seaton – Murton – Hetton-le-Hole – Rainton Bridge – Colliery Row – Fence Houses – Penshaw – Cox Green – South Hylton – Pallion – Millfield – University Park Lane”; 3rd – “Sunderland – Park Lane – University – Millfield – Pallion – South Hylton – Cox Green – Washington – Usworth – Follingsby – Fellgate – Brockley Whins – East Boldon – Seaburn – Stadium of Light – Saint Peter’s – Sunderland&rd
