Dieses Teilstück der A 29 war ein Autobahn-Notlandeplatz, der im Ernstfall innerhalb von 24 Stunden als Flugplatz hätte hergerichtet werden können. Vor der Eröffnung wurde das Teilstück der A 29 1984 im Rahmen der NATO-Übung „Highway 84“ für 48 Stunden in Betrieb genommen.
English: A Bell/Dornier UH-1D Huey of the German Lufwaffe (s/n 70+97) over the German Autobahn (interstate highway) A 29 near Ahlhorn, Lower Saxony (Federal Republic of Germany), on 28 March 1984. This part of the A 29 was a NATO emergency airstrip which was used for 48 hours as such during the "Highway 84" excercise, before it was officially opened for traffic.
