The aircraft had just flown its last combat mission and will be flown to the AMARC facility at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., where it will be laid to rest at the "boneyard." The C-130E became an honorary purple heart recipient in June of 1972 for damages sustained from mortar fire in Vietnam.
