English: Luzon, Philippines (Sept. 18, 2003) -- An MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter assigned to the “Providers” of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Five (HC-5) launched from the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) lands on Luzon Island in the Philippines as USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) cruises off the coast. The Essex Amphibious Ready Group, made up of Essex, USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), Harpers Ferry and embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit has been off the coast of the Philippines participating in Blue/Green Workups. Blue/Green Workups is a bi-annual joint training exercise designed to develop joint cooperation and meld the blue/green team into one cohesive fighting force. Conducting the exercise in the Philippine Islands also afforded the Sailors and Marines the opportunity to interact with their Filipino counterparts.
