Deutsch: Stechmücken (Culicidae) sind eine Familie von Insekten innerhalb der Ordnung der Zweiflügler. Weltweit gibt es mehr als 2.500 Stechmückenarten.[1] In Europa kommen 104 Arten vor, von denen fast alle auch in Mitteleuropa zu finden sind.

English: Mosquito (from the Spanish or Portuguese word for little fly) is a common insect in the family Culicidae (from the Latin culex meaning midge or gnat).
