English: The Völklingen Ironworks (German: Völklinger Hütte) is located in the German town of Völklingen, Saarland. In 1994, it was declared by UNESCO a World Heritage site. The former ironwork was founded in 1873 and decommissioned in 1986. In 1994 it was declared a World Heritage site by the UNESCO and is regarded the most important location of the industrial culture in Europe today (2010).
