Description
Français : Vitrail du XVème siècle, au dessus du maître-autel de la chapelle de l'Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune ("Hospices"), en Bourgogne, département de la Côte d'Or. De bas en haut on y voit:
  • une pietà (descente de croix), encadrée du Chancelier Rolin et de sa femme, Guigone de Salins, ainsi que de Saint Nicolas et de Saint Antoine-Ermite;
  • au dessus, une représentation de la Crucifixion, flanquée des portraits orants de Philippe le Bon, duc de Bourgogne, et de son épouse Isabelle du Portugal;
  • au dessus encore, les instruments de la Passion, destinés à rappeler aux malades les souffrances du Christ.
English: 15th-century stained glass windows at the chapel of the Hospices de Beaune in Burgundy. One can see:
  • below: a Pietà, with Chancelor Rolin and his wife Guigone de Salins (1403-1470), Saint Nicholas, and Saint Anthony the Great.
  • in the middle: a crucifixion, with Philip the Good, duke of Burgundy, and his wife Isabella of Portugal.
  • above: the Instruments of the Passion of Christ, in order that patients of the hospital remember the sufferings of Christ.
