Infotafel neben dem Tor sagt: 'Mitte 14. Jh. Steinbau der Herren von Hemmingen, 1392 urkundlich als 'Burg' erwähnt, zusammen mit der Kirche von Mauer und Graben umgeben. Um 1450 Übergang an die Herren von Nippenburg, seit 1649 Eigentum der Freiherren Varnbühler von und zu Hemmingen. 1709 'Unteres Haus' östlich des Steinbaus erstellt und 1817 durch Fachwerkanbau auf der Gartenseite erweitert. 1852-1854 von Ch. F. Leins im Stil des Historismus umgestaltet; Steinbau und 'Unteres Haus' durch neugotischen Zwischenbau mit Turm verbunden, Doppeltürme auf der Gartenseite angebaut. Seit 1985 Sitz der Gemeindeverwaltung.' English: Gate on the south side of the castle in Hemmingen in the German Federal State Baden-Württemberg.
