Infotafel neben dem Eingang sagt: 'Bereits um 900 wird eine Kirche in Hemmingen erwähnt. Westturm 13. Jh. (?), vermutlich Teil der Wehranlage, um 1350 gotischer Chor mit Strebepfeilern, um 1520 Anbau der Sakristei. Seit 1559 evangelische Pfarrkirche. 1582/1600 Erweiterung des Schiffs nach Süden, 1600 Portalvorbau und Treppenturm. 1785 Schiff nach Norden erweitert und Dach erhöht. 1856 Turm oben abgekantet und mit Laterne versehen.'
