James H. Yeck, ny vd för ESS, European Spallation Source med kontor på Medicon Village i Lund och planer på att bygga en neutronforskningsanläggning vid Brunnshög i Lund med datacenter i kommande Niels Bohr Science Park i Lund. Bilden är tagen 15 mars 2013 vid kontoret i Lund. ESS är en europeisk materialforskningsanläggning som finansieras av 17 partnerländer och som kommer att kosta 1.478 mio. euro att bygga (enligt beräkning från 2008) och 103 mio. euro om året att driva. Värdländer är Sverige och Danmark som idag äger ESS AB. Av de övriga 15 partnerländerna har ännu bara Norge sagt ja till den slutgiltiga finansieringen. Förhandlingar pågår med de övriga om ett slutgiltigt avtal som måste bli klart i år. ESS byggs granne med den nationella svenska materialforskningsanläggningen Max IV som byggs just nu. Målet är att skapa ett materialforskningskluster som även har nära kontakt med de nya materialforskningansläggningarna Petra III och Exfel i Hamburg.
