The souvenir sheet of Russia, 1 stamp×25.00 Rubles, 15 Juny 2007, PTC Marka Catalogue No 1183, Michel No 1415 (Block 142). Coated paper. Offset printing, intaglio printing. Perforation: frame 12½×12. The size of the souvenir sheet: 90×75 mm. The size of the stamp: 52×37 mm. Print run: 120,000.
The stamp: the fragment of the sculpture composition Minerva mounted on the dome of the main building of the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg.

The Russian Academy of Arts was founded in 1757 by Ivan Shuvalov under the name Academy of Three Noblest Arts, in 1764 it was renamed to Imperial Academy of Arts. Soon after the Russian Revolution of 1917, in the beginning of 1918, the academy was abolished, only an educational institution of the academy, the Higher School of Arts, was preserved under the name Petrograd Free Art Educational Studios. In 1933 there was created the All-Russian Academy of Arts in Leningrad, as an institute of higher education, in 1947 the academy in Leningrad was abolished and on its basis was created the Academy of Arts of the Soviet Union with the headquarter in Moscow; after the collapse of the USSR it was reformed into the Russian Academy of Arts.
The building of the Imperial Academy of Arts depicted on the souvenir sheet is now (2012) used as the house of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, that is an educational institution of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Comment – According to interstate and international compacts, the Russian Federation is the legal successor of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; therefore, this license tag is also applicable to official symbols and formal documents of the Russian SFSR and the USSR (union level[1]).
