Malvern Theatres Complex. Viewed from the Priory Park. The renovated complex includes the cinema, Festival Theatre and the Forum Theatre. The latter used to be the Winter Gardens. George Bernard Shaw and Sir Edward Elgar introduced new works at the Malvern Festival.
Malvern Festival Theatre. Taken from the top of Great Malvern Priory Church. The tall section is new to provide for all the standard scenery lifts. Several Bernard shaw plays were premiered at this theatre.
Macbeth at Cilgerran. The Welsh Wildlife Centre was a beautiful setting for a summer evening's production by the Illyria Theatre Company. The stage was set up where the otter sculpture, pictured in the first Geograph, used to be.
Looking along King Street. Looking north-east along King Street - the Bristol Old Vic is shown with the blue flags. It is the oldest continuously working theatre in the country. The Coopers' Hall facade dates from 1743 was built by William Halfpenny and acts as the main foyer to the theatre. And just beyond are St Nicholas' Almshouses in cream which date from 1652.

Hull New Theatre. Hull New Theatre, 1830-34 by Charles Mountain - Kingston Square frontage.

Hippodrome, Middle Street. Head north up Middle Street and on the eastern side of the road is The Hippodrome a former variety theatre that opened in 1901 and closed in 1965 before reopening as a bingo hall which is still its function today. Laurence Olivier had one of his earliest walk on parts in The Ghost Train in 1925, managing to trip over when entering the stage much to the amusement of the audience. Grimsby Auditorium. Popular entertainment venue on Cromwell Road
Glyndebourne Opera House. This was opened in 1994. It seats 1150 people, replacing the one built for John Christie in 1934. Glyndebourne has a summer Festival season at which patrons wear evening dress and eat picnics on the lawn (as well as enjoying superb opera). Gaiety Theatre Douglas. Designed by Frank Matcham this theatre opened in 1900 and was faithfully restored in the 1990's.
Floral Hall, foyer of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The floral hall is the main area of the Royal Opera House for drinks and meals before a performance and in intervals; this photo is taken before a performance by the Bolshoi Ballet from Moscow. The iron and glass hall was built as a flower market next to the opera house, and was incorporated into it in the reconstruction in the 1990s. The ballet goer studying the programme is the photographer's wife.

Dalston Theatre (sup 1) I couldn't get to the right position to get a decent shot but nonetheless wished to show the side of the building and the graffiti on the roof -- which must have been written at some considerable risk to the perpetrators!
Clarence Gardens. Head east along Western Road and turn south into Clarence Square; as the road turns east Clarence Gardens occupies a small corner. Clarence Square was an early development from the 1800s onwards and was largely competed by the 1820s. At the end of this row is a small hall originally built as a chapel in 1830. Since then it has been an infants school (1852), Mission Hall (1884), an Art School (1899) and from 1940 onwards been home to the Little Theatre Company - Little as the capacity is only 80, making it the smallest theatre in Brighton. Civic Theatre. This was the Civic Theatre in Stretford. Many scout and guide gang shows have been performed here in its heyday. Unfortunately it is now not used for performances but is council offices. The picture was taken from SJ797943 looking Northwest.

Carn Marth Theatre Quarry. This open air theatre on the southern side of Carn Marth was built in an old quarry on the southern side of Carn Marth by the Carn Marth Trust. Performances are held every year on Summer evenings.
Bubwith, Theatre of Arts and Multi Media Training.
Bromley Central Library and Churchill Theatre. Centrally located in the pedestrianised section of Bromley High Street, the library and the theatre share one building, which was opened in 1975.
Broadbent Theatre. In a former Methodist chapel on Snarford Road, Wickenby. The Broadbent Theatre is named after Roy Broadbent and home to amateur theatre company the Lindsey Rural Players http://www.broadbent.org/ . Their honorary president is the brilliant oscar-winning actor Jim Broadbent, Roy's son.
Brentwood Theatre, Shenfield Road, Brentwood, Essex. Described as an independent community theatre - specialises in productions for youth groups etc.
Babbacombe Theatre. At the south end of Babbacombe Downs, this unsubsidised professional theatre mainly has variety shows to please holidaymakers in this seaside resort.
Athenaeum Centre, Warminster. Used for theatrical and other events. Built in 1858 by public subscription,
Art Deco Gaumont Palace Theatre/Cinema/Bingo Hall, Corporation Street. This Art Deco building was designed in 1932 by WT Benslyn, with a capacity of 1275 people. The Gaumont Palace had a large stage, 6.5 by 22.5 metres, with accompanying fly tower, and 11 dressing rooms. Later it became a cinema before being converted to a Mecca bingo hall. Other than making the floor level and converting the stage to a bar, the auditorium and foyer are otherwise little altered. Outside there is a modern canopy but the original one remains above. It is Grade 2 listed. On the day this photo was taken the bingo hall revert back to a theatre for a concert, the first since it became a cinema.
