All the different varieties, old as well as new, are brought up to date and though the descriptions are the best we could give with the resources at ourcommand, we have no doubt that the experience of some of our professionalgrowers with new varieties will differ from that given in this list. Many of thesevarieties have originated only within a year or two and were not suflBlciently testedWe were therefore obliged to take the description as received from the originators,and cannot recommend these novelties for general cultivation. The number ofvarieties now under culture is altogether too large and many of little merit should bedropped, while none but such which have good quality and points should be retainedfor general culture.
