Blasonierung „Das Wappen des Landkreises wird in einem Halbrundschild geführt.
Unter silbernem Schildhaupt, darin drei blaue Wellenbalken, gespalten.
Vorn (rechts) in Blau eine goldene Burg: über einer Zinnenmauer mit Tor ein Zinnenturm.
Hinten (links) in Grün ein silberner Göpel, begleitet von drei goldenen vierblättrigen Blüten.“
