Se caracteriza principalmente por su resistencia a la corrosión en una amplia gama de ambientes químicos y marinos que une a una práctica insesibilidad a la corrosión bajo tensiones genera por la presenacia de cloruros. Sus buenas propiedades mecánicas se mantienen desde temperaturas inferiores a 0º C hasta aproximadamente 480º C.
