English: Inauguration of the statue of Charlemagne, Boulevard d’Avroy in Liège (Belgium), 26 July 1868. — On Sunday 26 July, Mr de Luesemans, governor of the Province of Liège, officially handed over to the administration of the city the monument erected at the roundabout of the Boulevard d’Avroy. A large and elegant pavilion had been erected opposite to the statue which was veiled to the eyes of passersby. Everyone was there: the aides-de-camp of Leopold II, the rector of the University, the professors of the faculties, the magistrates, the director of the Academy of Fine Arts, the president of the Archaeological Institute. The statue was made by Louis Jehotte, Belgian sculptor, born in Liège on 7 November 1803, died in Brussels on 3 February 1884, professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels.

Tout le monde était là : les aides de camps de Léopold II, le recteur de l’Université, les professeurs des facultés, les magistrats, le directeur de l’Académie des beaux arts, le président de l’Institut archéologique. La statue a été réalisée par Louis Jehotte, sculpteur belge, né à Liège le 7 novembre 1803, décédé à Bruxelles le 3 février 1884, professeur de sculpture à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles.
