Housing development needs in Newcastle-upon-Tyne defined appearance of the idea of construction in the area Christon Road. Now at this site the Gosforth Metro Depot is located, and on the southern borders ground Metro tracks are laid. The optimal distance from residential buildings to railway lines on the surface - 100 m (328 ft). It provides a safe for the health noise level and electromagnetic radiation.
