Description 1959 Cheverolet Corvette Sting Ray "During an industry-wide ban on racing, Bill Mitchell developed this Sting Ray prototype in a secret design center called 'Studio X,' located in the basement of General Motors. Despite a heavy fiberglass body, the Mitchell Sting Ray was fast, clocking 183 mph. The car's futuristic styling inspired the redesigned Corvette Sting Ray split-window coupe, released by GM in 1963."
