Subsequent discussion indicates that this is a Riley 1 Litre from approximately 1939. Directly after the bankruptcy of Riley, the company's assets came into the hands of the Nuffield Corporation which drastically pruned the Riley model range. This was one of two Riley's produced following that exercise until World War II put an end to Riley production. After the end of the Second World war, initially, the Nuffieldisation policy was reversed. For a few years Rileys became again distinctive vehicles: the Nuffieldesque Riley One and a half Litre was accordingly not reintroduced after 1945.
