Description |
English: Sunrise at RNAS Yeovilton.
An early morning sunrise at RNAS Yeovilton/HMS Heron as the ground crew of 702 Naval Air Squadron get ready for the departure of a Lynx MK3 aircraft.
The Lynx MK3 & MK8 aircraft are used to train pilots and observers, who will later deploy on operational duties, once there intense training period has been completed. 702 NAS also fly and maintain the Royal Navyês –black Cats” display team aircraft. The display aircraft are also used for squadron day to day training tasks, ensuring that every RN asset is put to its correct use. The trainee pilots donêt get to use the display aircraft for anything other than flying under the direction of a qualified Royal Navy pilot instructor. Only selected aircrew are able to use the aircraft for aerial displays. Date- 19th October 2007. Image by- LA(PHOT) Paul AêBarrow.
