Licensingedit
This postcard was published in 1913 or 1914 (Borrer began flying in 1913 and died in March 1914). Neither the front nor the back side of the original postcard mention a photographer or publisher. The image therefore most probably is in the public domain in Switzerland by virtue of Art. 31 of the Swiss Copyright Act, as it was published more than 70 years ago. Publications reproducing this postcard don't mention its creator either. Additionally, the postcard is in the public domain in the United States, as it was first published prior to 1923. The following license templates are used to reflect this situation.
The author of this image from Switzerland is unknown, and the image was published at least 70 years ago. It is therefore in the public domain in Switzerland by virtue of Art. 31 of the Swiss Copyright Act.
Note that this applies only if a reliable source is cited to indicate that the author is not publicly known; just not knowing who the author is is not enough to qualify the image as public domain. This image may not be in the public domain in countries other than Switzerland. |
This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1923.
Public domain works must be out of copyright in both the United States and in the source country of the work in order to be hosted on the Commons. If the work is not a U.S. work, the file must have an additional copyright tag indicating the copyright status in the source country. |
