Jan Józef Ignacy Łukasiewicz (1822 - 1882) was a Polish pharmacist and petroleum industry pioneer who in 1856 built the first oil refinery in the world.[1] Among his other achievements were the discovery of how to distill kerosene from seep oil, the invention of the modern kerosene lamp (1853), the introduction of the first modern street lamp in Europe (1853), and the construction of the first oil well in Poland (1854).<br>Name of photo's author: Adam Wisznewski<br>This photo was taken in: City

Dr.Asger Hoeg, born 1947, graduated from Technical University of Denmark 1972 and received a Bachelor of Economy from Copenhagen Business School in 1979. Hoeg was Deputy Director of the Postal Services from 1981 to 1988; he is the Executive Director of the Experimentarium Science Center since April 1988. Hoeg was Founding Father of ECSITE in 1990; he was Treasurer, Vice President and President of ECSITE in the period from 1998 to 2007; he is Vice President of The Siemens Foundation in Denmark, on the Board of he Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, on the Science Center Committee of Norway, and on the Board of Archeologic Research Center Lejre. Hoeg is also External Associate Professor at the Copenhagen Business School.
