On our way to Beechy Island to find the remains of the Franklin party. Sir John Franklin's expedition left England May 19, 1845 to try and discover the Northwest Passage. There was no survivors, only three graves left at their first wintering site on Beechy Island and scattered bones on King William Island.

Princess Fathia (the little girl wearing a gray-green coat), sister of King Farouk I of Egypt, plays in the snow with her soon-to-be sister-in-law Safinaz Zulficar (the young woman wearing a red coat) during the Egyptian Royal Family's winter trip to Europe in 1937. Safinaz Zulficar would change her name and become Queen Farida upon her marriage to King Farouk I a few months later, on 20 January 1938. The photograph was published in Al-Musawwar magazine on 11 February 1939.

Sir Brooke Boothby 7th Bart. Sir Brooke Boothby was a minor poet and landowner in Derbyshire. He was part of the many people in the intellectual circles of Lichfield who welcomed w:Jean-Jacques Rousseau to England in 1766-7. After his return from exile Boothby visited Rousseau in Paris where he obtained a copy of his autobiography. Boothby was instrumental in the book being published in Lichfield in 1780 after the authors death.
