ID: DF-ST-85-06018, Service Depicted: Air Force, An OA-37B Dragonfly prepares for a low-level strafing mission at dawn. The modified version of the T-37 flight trainer aircraft has been adapted for use by forward air controllers and as an observation and attack aircraft.
This photo shows the wing of a Shuttle Training Aircraft (STA) as it performs touch-and-go landings on the Shuttle Landing Facility runway at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. STS-133 Commander Steve Lindsey and Pilot Eric Boe flew two of the Gulfstream II shuttle's handling during the final phase of landing. Practice landings are part of the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT), which provides each shuttle crew and launch team an opportunity to participate in various simulated activities, including equipment familiarization and emergency training at the launch pad. Space shuttle Discovery and its STS-133 crew will deliver the Permanent Multipurpose Module, packed with supplies and critical spare parts, as well as Robonaut 2, the dexterous humanoid astronaut helper, to the International Space Station. Launch is targeted for Nov. 1 at 4:40 p.m.

The E-3 Sentry is a modified Boeing 707/320 commercial airframe with a rotating radar dome. The dome is 30 feet in diameter, 6 feet thick and is held 11 feet above the fuselage by two struts. It contains a radar subsystem that permits surveillance from the Earth's surface up into the stratosphere, over land or water. The radar has a range of more than 200 miles for low-flying targets and farther for aerospace vehicles flying at medium to high altitudes.

Contrail that looked strangely similar to the tsunami warning sign, which is seen at w:street light below, San Francisco, California. This contrail is example of w:Crow Instability. w:Crow Instability is an inviscid line-w:vortex instability, named after its discoverer S. C. Crow. It is observed when the vortices caused by aircraft are being whirled from being otherwise straight contrails into spirals then donut-shaped rings.

Ook in Nederland komen er chemtrails voor. This is clearly a condensation trail (or contrail) left by numerous aircraft passing in high altitude. The author is mislead.

Contrails over London, looking West from Clapham (in the general direction of Heathrow Airport). The sheer number of trails give a sense of the enormous volume of traffic through the airport. Bends in the trails show changes in course taken by the aircraft on their final approaches.

Airbus A340 - photographed flying south of Oxford on 14th March 2007. Note distinct contrails from all four engines. Cropped from a larger image, hopefully without significant loss of quality. An interesting photograph - the aircraft is low enough that it can easily be resolved with the camera, but high enough for contrails to form.

Full view of Space Shuttle Orbiter Challenger in space, taken by the Space Pallet Satellite (SPAS). A heavily cloud-covered portion of the earth forms the backdrop for this scene of Challenger. Visible in the payload bay are the protective cradles for the Palapa-B and Telesat F communications satellites, the pallet for the NASA Office of Space and Terrestrial Applications (OSTA-2), the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) robot arm in the shape of the numeral seven and the KU-band antenna. A number of GetAway Special (GAS) canisters are also visible along the port side.

Cathedral Gorge is a Nevada state park about 80 miles south of Great Basin National Park in eastern Nevada and 80 miles west of Cedar City, Utah. It is a little out of the way but well worth a detour. Cathedral Gorge was formed by lake that dried up many years ago and wind and rain carved out the canyon. I took this photo on a snowy, cold day in October 2008.
