olo eliminatoredel cavallo — spariranno anche, coi loro pittoreschi tiri a quattro, lediligenze che ora attraversano i valichi alpini dello Spinga, del Ber-nina, dello Stelvio, dell Aprica, del Tonale. Mentre per le grandi gare sportive si introducono ora sui turfsinglesi ed americani perfino i cavalli drogati, cioè i cavalli deboli ali-mentati con degli stimolanti ( iniezioni di stricnina ) per renderli perunora più vigorosi, e vincitori di cavalli ordinariamente più forti;nelluso della locomozione pratica il cavallo va diminuendo ogni giornopiù, e con esso il lusso e leleganza dei veicoli ; ma pure quando unindividuo, anche fautore delle più ardite novità, quando un popolo, purlargamente applicato alle industrie ed ai commerci, vogliono pensare aqualche cosa esteriormente signorile e godibile, pensano facilmentealla carrozza, la cui espressione complessiva non potrà mai essere néuguagliata, né superata, fra le eleganze e le signorilità della vita, danessun altro veicolo.
