Photo's description:
A schematic of a waste fired power plant that is equipped with material recovering (able to recover a degree of the incinerated materials, as metals, ...). The schematic is based on the image at http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/8475/scannen0001qv8.jpg, with permission of Afval Energie Bedrijf. The plant was made by Afval Energie Bedrijf. Note that selective waste management is still a better option (degree of recovered material is greater that way), but for speedy cleanups of landfills, ... this device can be a very good (cost-effective) substitute (especially in developed countries where cleanups can cause traffic problems, and where the wages required for selective recycling would be otherwise high). The smoke outlet can be equipped with CCS (carbon capture and storage) to allow the plant to operate emissionlessly. When the landfills, litter, ... is cleaned up in an area, additional waste can be brought to the plant from other areas, or rebuild on a new location. After the cleanup to the waste, a move can be made to a zero-waste economy to avoid the creation of new landfills, litter, ...
