Summary

Description
English: Gold
Locality: Eagle's Nest Mine (Mystery Wind Mine), Placer County, California, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: small cabinet, 8 x 3 x 1 cm
Gold with matrix
This is an extremely well-crystallized, arborescent spray of gold crystals to a whopping 5 cm in length (that's 2 INCHES, folks!), literally shooting up like the old "Shazam" cartoon logo up into the air from a small bit of attached rock and quartz matrix at the base My kid thinks it looks like a preying mantis, though). The gold isn't as thick as the other major gold pieces here, but it is not fragile either (In other words it is typical, 1mm-thick Eagle's Nest gold, but in atypical aesthetic quality). The piece is good from BOTH sides, though I prefer the side with more gold showing as opposed to the side with 2.5 cm of attached matrix showing, myself. For the price, I think this is one of the largest and simultaneously most attractive crystallized gold specimens I have ever had to offer. It isn't as hefty or weighty as some, or as rich in bullion value, but for sheer drama and crystal quality, this has got to be one of the most impressive large gold specimens for under 10k that you can obtain. I truly think its much better in person, as well, so if tempted, let me know...I am sure you would agree in person. 8 x 3 x 1 cm
