Also known as the Guy F. Whiting House (or the Whiting House), the building was constructed in 1889 and is a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District. Past owners of the property include the Brazilian government (former embassy), Bolivian government (former embassy), Bullis School (original location; then known as Bullis Boys' School), National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (headquarters), and the Fleet Reserve Association (headquarters).
