Summary

Description
English: Marconi Type 106 radio receiver, a crystal radio receiver made from 1915 through the 1920s by the American Marconi Co. The Type 106 went through many design changes. This example was probably a Type 106C, which came out in 1921. It's tuning range was 3500 to 200 meters (86 to 1500 kHz). The crystal "cat's whisker" detector is visible between the lower center and right knobs. This sophisticated inductively-coupled receiver could receive Morse code transmissions from powerful spark gap transmitters from thousands of miles away, across oceans.
Information from Douglas, Alan (2006(2006)). Radio Manufacturers of the 1920s. United States: Sonoran Publishing. pp. 56. ISBN 1886606048 .. The crosshatching in the image is an aliasing artifact of scanning the original halftone picture.
