Summaryedit

Description
English: Top of the radio mast of the medium wave transmitter in Hirschlanden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, of the Deutsche Telekom AG for the AFN, showing a capacity "top hat" for electrical lengthening. The screen of wires supported by the four radial arms acts as a capacitor plate, with the ground as the other plate. Each cycle of the alternating current radio signal, current flows in and out of the screen, just as if the tower continued above it. This serves to increase the current in the top part of the antenna, increasing the radiated power, as if the tower was longer.
Deutsch: Selbststrahlender Sendemast mit Dachkapazität. Sendemast des Mittelwellensenders Hirschlanden, Baden-Württemberg, der Deutschen Telekom AG für den AFN. Detailaufnahme der Dachkapazität..
