English: War Memorial in Leslie Park, Warwick, ca. 1935 The foundation stone of the Warwick War Memorial was laid on 7 June 1923 by the then Prime Minister, Hon. S. M. Bruce and unveiled by the State Governor, Sir Matthew Nathan, on 5 December 1923 at a ceremony attended by 3000 people. The Memorial was designed by architect Roy Campbell of Warwick and constructed of Helidon sandstone by F. Williams and Company of Ipswich for £1445. It was completed at the beginning of 1924. The memorial stands 10.7 metres (35 feet) high, and comprises a base, pedestal and surmounting Celtic cross. A marble plaque lists 122 local soldiers who fell in the First World War.
