Description German en:Jews of the upper en:Rhine region, sixteenth century. From the en:Basel Stammbuch of 1612. Published in the en:1901-en:1906 en:Jewish Encyclopedia, now in the en:public domain.[1] The circel on the cloaks are the rota or Jewish ring, the commonest form of badge for Jews in some European countries from the 11th to the 17th Century. The men also wears broad flat en:berets, a headdress especially popular in the 16th century
