Illustration-dpd Veit Harlan acquitted After a trial of nearly eight weeks, which developed into a fundamental discussion about artistic responsibility, the Hamburg Criminal Court delivered its verdict concerning Veit Harlan, director of the controversial film "Jud Süß", on the morning of April 23, 1949 - and acquitted him.
