Sebastiano Ricci in Paulus Caliary Veronensis/ B. Picart

English: Frontispiece of The Architecture of A. Palladio - according to the source, it is the first edition (1715) of Giacomo Leoni's translation of Andrea Palladio's Quattro libri dell'architettura (1570), published in London (caption at source: Portrait of Palladio from the Leoni edition, 1715); this was the first translation of Palladio's work into English. Compare, however, the date of the etching (see below).

The etching is inscribed Andreas Palladius Vicentinus.

At the lower left of the etching (legible only at the higher-resolution source), it is written: Paulus Caliary Veronensis Efigiem pinxit.

At the lower left, it says B. Picart delinearit et sculpsit 1716. Underneath the frame, at the lower right, a possibly hand-written remark says 1715.
