Description Frontispiz aus u.g. Werk. Abgebildet ist unter einem mit Engeln umsäumten und vom geöffneten Himmel rückwärtig bestrahlten Kruzifix die mit Krone und Sternen bekrönte Schmerzhafte Muttergottes, der ein Degen durchs Herz sticht. Den Hintergrund bildet eine Ansicht Münchens - die Frauenkirche (Mariendom) schmiegt sich dabei prominent an die Kontur Mariens an. Die Texte lauten: 'Mater Amoris et Doloris.' (Mutter der Liebe und des Schmerzes), 'Ecce Mater tua. Io. 19. 27.' (Siehe, Deine Mutter. Joh. 19.27), 'Gemitus Matris tuæ ne obliviscaris. Eccl. 7.29.' ([Ehre Deinen Vater und] vergiß nicht das Ächzen Deiner Mutter. Ecclesiasticus 7.29), 'Vera Effigies Dolorosæ Matris Monachÿ in Bavariæ Metropoli Thaumaturgæ.' (Wahres Abbild der Schmerzhaften Muttergottes, zu München, in Bayerns Hauptstadt wundertätig).
