Description Charles I English Half-Crown from Newark in 1646. Width: 1 inch. Both sides are of the same coin. The letters CR stand for Carolus Rex, Latin for King Charles, and the letters XXX are Roman numerals representing 30 pence. The crude design of the coin is because it was made while the town of Newark was was under siege during the English civil war.
