Svenska: Kvinnan sitter och läser morgontidningen vid frukostbordet. Solljuset faller in genom den öppna dörren och utanför är en grönskande solvarm trädgård. I bakgrunden står ett stort träskåp mot väggen där en thesamovar och några vaser finns uppställda. En frodig palm i en lerkruka står bredvid andra krukväxter intill dörröppningen. Hela rummets atmosfär andas lugn och rofylld morgonstämning. Den danske konstnären Laurits Andersen Ring skildrar sin hustru vid ett stillsamt frukostbord i en målning 1898. Över hennes huvud sticker kvistar av myrtenträd fram som om de bildar en krona på hennes huvud. Trädet, enligt den grekiska mytologin, är en symbol för kärleken. I Danmark användes kvistar av myrten till smycken för att pryda bruden. Kärleksfullt skildrar konstnären sin hustru kanske med tanke på denna symbolik.
