Photographic postcard of Mathilde Felixovna Kschessinskaya (1872-1971), Soloist to His Imperial Majesty and Prima ballerina of the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatres. She is costumed for the title role in a revival of choreographer Jules Perrot (1810-1892) and composer Cesare Pugni's (1802-1870) ballet La Esmeralda, circa December 1898.

Date Circa December 1898 (the ballet La Esmeralda was presented in a revival by Marius Petipa on December 3 (O.S. November 21), 1898 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre, mounted especially for Kschessinskaya.)
