English: Atlantic Ocean (Jun. 25, 2003) -- Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class Christopher J. Rodrigue from Valentine, La., receives messages from the bridge, to control the speed of the ship, during his watch as the throttleman in the ship’s Main Control aboard USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Kearsarge is on its way home from a successful deployment. The multi-purpose amphibious assault ship participated in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and provided support to the President of the United States during his summits with the Arab leaders in Egypt and Jordan. Kearsarge was also extended on deployment when directed to prepare for possible support to Operation Shinning Express in Western Africa.
